| RESEARCH LIBRARY
The Society's Research Library is widely considered one of best in York County; and, a variety of books, periodicals, scrapbooks, census records, cemetery records and maps are available for visitors to peruse. The Library contains books pertaining to New England and Maine history as well as histories of our local areas. Numerous family records provide researchers with primary genealogical information as well as 'missing links.' The Society Library also houses the York County Genealogical Society's Library. If you would like to submit a query for our volunteer genealogists or staff, please e-mail or send by regular mail an explicit, detailed request (wohistory@maine.rr.com or P.O. Box 801, Wells, ME 04090). We charge $5 for a preliminary search and $15 per hour for a more in-depth search. We often provide information that we can access readily at no charge, e.g. name searches in our Vital Records. Researchers may contact the Office to discuss our query practices further or for further explanation. |
